Il MAR Museo d’Arte della Città di Ravenna con la sua ultima mostra L’incanto dell’affresco. Capolavori strappati da Pompei a Giotto, da Correggio a Tiepolo in programma dal 16 febbraio al 15 giugno 2014 indaga un ambizioso progetto espositivo. Un esempio illustre, ci viene da Roberto Longhi: «Era il 1957, spiega Claudio Spadoni (curatore della mostra) e parlando di un’esposizione di affreschi staccati al Forte di Belvedere a Firenze curata da Ugo Procacci, Longhi si diceva convinto, come quasi tutti a quel tempo, che la rimozione fosse l’unico rimedio per scongiurare la perdita definitiva di un così vasto patrimonio».

Una mostra che ripercorre innanzitutto la tecnica dell’affresco e il suo sviluppo nei secoli, i suo metodi di distacco che ne permettono la visione e la salvaguardia. Divisa in sei sezioni, ordinate secondo un indirizzo storico-cronologico: dai primi masselli cinque-seicenteschi, ai trasporti settecenteschi, compresi quelli provenienti da Pompei ed Ercolano, agli strappi ottocenteschi, fino alle sinopie staccate negli anni Settanta del Novecento.
Risalgono ai tempi di Vitruvio e di Plinio le prime operazioni di distacco, del cosiddetto “massello”, che ebbe molta fortuna anche nel Rinascimento. Molti esempi sono presenti in mostra con affreschi tra il XVI e il XVIII secolo, come la Maddalena piangente di Ercole de Roberti della Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna, Il gruppo di angioletti di Melozzo da Forlì dei Musei Vaticani, La Madonna della Mani del Pinturicchio.
Durante il XVIII secolo la pratica a massello venne affiancata e nel tempo sostituita, dalla più innovativa e pratica tecnica dello strappo, prassi che tramite uno speciale collante permetteva di strappare gli affreschi e quindi portarli su di una tela. Una vera rivoluzione nel campo del restauro, della conservazione, ma anche del collezionismo del patrimonio murale italiano. Tecnica che in quegli anni garantì la diffusione degli affreschi di Ercolano e Pompei e conseguentemente, la loro salvaguardia.Tutti i grandi maestri dell’arte italiana come: Giotto, Buffalmacco, Vitale da Bologna, Perugino, Beato Angelico, Andrea del Castagno, Melozzo, Bramante, Signorelli, Ercole de’ Roberti, Pinturicchio, Raffaello, Giulio Romano, Romanino, Correggio, Lelio Orsi, Veronese, Carracci, Reni, Guercino, Domenichino, Tiepolo fra la metà del Settecento e la fine del XIX secolo furono oggetto delle attenzioni degli estrattisti: Antonio Contri, Giacomo e Pellegrino Succi, Antonio Boccolari, e molti altri. Tutti nomi presenti in mostra.

Viene in oltre ricordato come la più florida stagione, la cosiddetta “stagione degli stacchi” e della “caccia alle sinopie”, fu portata avanti soprattutto a partire dalla seconda metà del secolo scorso, come conseguenza degli effetti causati sul patrimonio dai bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale, si pensi a quelli subiti da Mantegna a Padova o Tiepolo a Vicenza, e per scongiurare nell’eventualità di un ulteriore conflitto altre perdite.
Un’occasione unica da non perdere, un catalogo di storia dell’arte italiana per quattro mesi a Ravenna.
